Phaseolus vulgaris var. vulgaris
.Historical rarity with angel-shaped markings, often cultivated in monasteries in former times.
The seeds of the "angel bean" are very roundish and have the distinctive patterning at the navel that resembles a flying angel. The interesting seeds were therefore also often used as beads, e.g. in rosaries, and numerous mystical stories are attributed to the beans. The variety is of course also suitable for cooking and the tender green pods can be harvested continuously in summer. From autumn onwards, the dry seeds can then be prepared for bean dishes.
Spacing: 80 x 10 cm / stalks: 80 x 100 cm, per stalk 6-10 beans
